Pippie Kruger is smiling! She is getting better and better everyday. We visit her at home.

She is smiling!

Every time I visit Pippie Kruger I can see an improvement – this time it was her smile and her eyes.

She smiles at me, playfully sticks out her tongue and even ‘kicks’ my butt.

Anice is so friendly always and jokes while she takes out special flavored milk from the refrigerator for our coffee.

Springboks vs All Blacks, 6 Oct 2012, Soccer City Soweto

I don’t do as much sport as I would like, but I was lucky enough to do this test match.

The All Blacks already won the tournament on points, but Boks supporters was hopeful of a good game after the Boks had a great game of rugby against the Wallabies last week.

It was my first sport being shot at Soccer City and hopefully not the last, as I think everyone will agree that Soweto has such a great vibe.

Helen Zille at Constitutional Court for Menzi Simelane case

Yesterday the Constitutional Court ruled that Menzi Simelane’s appointment as national director of public prosecutions was invalid.

Menzi wasn’t even there for the ruling, but Helen Zille of the Democratic Alliance was.

Luckily she was there, otherwise I would not have had any pictures for the paper.

Ode to Dead Horse

My Sondag-stank

Verbrande, smeulende spiermassa voor my op hierdie Sondag,
my Sondag-stank.

Gallop die ewigheid in…
Hardloop uit my gedagtes uit!

Die familie van agt
vermink, vermoor en verbrand,
is nou twee.

Jou kake geklem sodat daar nooit weer ‘n stang kan ingaan.
Jou hoewe opgetrek tot naby jou ingewande.
Jou swaar metaalkombers.
Jou glimlaggende tande.

Gallop die ewigheid in…
Hardloop uit my gedagtes uit!

Transplant Athletes

Living examples of the need for organ donation. Disciples for organ transplants. That is how Willie Uys, chairman of the South African Transplant Sports Association (SATSA) describes the athletes competing in the South African Transplant Games.

This month is organ donor month and the South African Transplant games was held in Durban over the weekend.

In South Africa there are 4300 people on the transplant waiting list, but because of the scarceness of donors only 600 transplants was done last year.

Before Sunrise – Ballet Dancers at Voortrekker Monument

Before Sunrise is a freestyle group of ballet dancers, traceurs and photographers that collaborate to have photo’s and video’s taken before sunrise at different spots in and around Pretoria.

Sigma 12-24mm

This time around they went to the Voortrekker Monument and I tagged along for some random photos.

Great vibe and definitely an avenue I would like to explore…
